COVID-19 Testing at Nanakuli High and Intermediate School to Keep Students Safe at School
The Pacific Alliance Against COVID-19 (PAAC) is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) study based at the University of Hawaii that aims to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in communities. In partnership with Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, the Department of Education, the Department of Health, and NIH, PAAC will provide free rapid antigen testing for COVID-19 to students and staff as a way to keep everyone safe at school. The antigen tests have been approved under the FDA Emergency Use Authorization.
Testing will be done before sports, during select classes, and as frequently as twice a week depending on need.
Students will be asked basic information - contact information, school, grade, ethnicity, gender, and vaccination status. Students who participate in the testing program will receive a $10 gift card for their participation after the collection of the survey and COVID-19 test. Results will be either sent by text message, email, or phone call to the parent and the student (with parent approval). If the rapid antigen test is positive, we will do a second swab to confirm the result.
PARENTS: Ensure that you complete the CONSENT FORM to enable your child to participate in the program. Please have your child's email address available to enable their participation. If you have more than one child, please ensure that you sign one consent for each child. Your child won’t be able to participate until this consent has been received.
STUDENTS: After your parent signs the consent, please check your email to provide your assent (approval), complete the registration, and select the appointment time for your test.
